Vol. 5: Compassionate Service

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

We've seen how disasters can bring out the best in people, coalescing communities together in a surge of solidarity and compassion. During moments of crisis, we no longer focus on chasing an outdated, "iconic" idea of who we "should be." Rather, times like this provide an opportunity for us to see the person who we really are (and who our loved ones have known all along). Now, as this pandemic forces us to act as a global community, let’s be the best humans (and heroes) we can be, and may the compassionate leader in you reflect the compassionate leader in me until compassionate leaders are reflected in all of we.

Weekly Wednesday LUNCHSTREAMS Live!

Happy Hour last week was a blast! After we caught up as friends, old and new, enjoying our lunches together, Denise took us through a series of delicious drinks using common ingredients. Of course, the main necessary ingredient was whiskey ;)  If you were able to attend, which drink was your favorite?

LunchStreams continue this Wednesday at 12pm PST! Join us as we virtually share not only our drinks and meals, but also our stories, unique experiences, and ideas during this crazy chapter of our lives. Be sure to email us at RSVP@ingreat.co and we'll send you the link to join! And don't forget your Whiskey Sour! Or Ginger Highball... Hmm so many choices.

GreatCo Speaker Series

Last week for our Quarterly Speaker Series, the GreatCo team had the honor of hearing from Dan Lin of Rideback Ranch. Coming from the film entertainment industry, Dan has inevitably encountered many ups and downs throughout his career, struggles which have no doubt enabled him to adapt to current circumstances. Some key takeaways from his inspiring stories include:
  • We can learn to be resourceful with what we have. By changing our perspectives, we can discover (or rediscover) the true purpose for our ventures.
  • It’s ok to say “no” to projects with which we are not in alignment, and in doing so, we give that much more power to every YES! in our lives.
  • There is power in the reciprocity of service: by serving others, we often find ourselves more fulfilled, in ways we never could have imagined. Service in community, then, becomes a key motivator in what we do.
Time. Moments like these remind us how precious it is. After all, GreatCo's ethos is just that:  the most important investment we have is time. This week, we continue to explore how members on our team are investing their time via the following:
  • What is a fun fact about yourself?
  • What's your favorite activity at the moment?
  • What's your favorite dessert during quarantine?
Hi Mary! Director of production and queen of organization, Mary Tang keeps everything running smoothly and efficiently at GreatCo. And she always does so with a smile :) Fun fact, ever since Mary was a kid, she has wanted to swim with dolphins! Once quarantine life is lifted, she can't wait to hang out with such brilliant and intuitive creatures. Lately, she has been loving the ability to still play board games with friends on virtual sites like Board Game Arena. As for dessert, where to start?! She loves all desserts, (especially now), but brown butter dark chocolate chip cookies would have to take the cake... er, cookie I mean?
Greetings Nate! Our resident financial guru, Nate Crommett makes sense of the ever-changing financial tides that we must navigate. Funny thing is, Crommett
isn't Nate's birth name - he actually took his wife's last name when they got married! Love it! As for favorite activity, Nate has found that he loves to get his steps in by walking around between calls and video chats. Hey, we
all need to get those steps in somehow right? As for yummy treats, he has especially been loving his homemade nachos, consisting of a layered pyramid of tortilla strips, melted cheddar & manchego cheese, refried beans, mango peach salsa, olives, and scallions. The fruit salsa counts as dessert, right??
