Last week we flew into the virtual realm at Cryptovoxels to celebrate the launch of Sean Chen's Wingman: Compendium of an Artist's First Writing Experience! Visitors within this virtual realm were able to admire Sean Chen's art on gallery walls, view video, and even go on virtual tours. In this NextChapter of our lives we are excited to have curated a such a unique gallery in partnership with Machi X. Learn more about NextChapter here As part of our ongoing mission to support diverse storytellers, GreatCo is excited to be the producing partner with HBO for this year's APA Visionaries short film competition featuring some inspirational up-and-coming filmmakers! With the theme of “Breaking Barriers,” the 4th HBO Asian Pacific American Visionaries short film competition drew a record number of submissions of films that provided a unique lens into the challenges and victories of overcoming obstacles. In the spirit of celebrating community and amplifying voices, the 3 finalist films, Tiffany So’s FINE CHINA, Johnson Cheng’s LONELY BLUE NIGHT, and Thomas Percy Kim’s SI, will premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific American Film Festival. The evening will be hosted by Anna Akana, with appearances from the 2020 HBO Visionaries Ambassador, Shannon Lee, performing artist NIKI, and more. The Virtual Premiere will take place Friday, September 25, 2020 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET via the HBO Visionaries website, and is free and open to the public. The films will premiere on HBO and be available for streaming on HBO Max beginning Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 8pm PT/ET. 2020 has been a year of great change. As the climate continues to change, yearly fires will likely continue to be with us as well. But as we humans are ever adapting and evolving, it is up to us to take this opportunity to once again embrace one of our strongest qualities: community. Our hearts and gratitude go out to the heroically brave firefighters who tirelessly risk their lives to contain the fires.
